The season of thanksgiving

November 15, 2017

At the end of the day, we all want to be happy. We want to live a life of deep seeded joy and happiness. Truth is, we were designed that way, it is what the Father wants for us.

Jesus said:

My joy I leave with you that your joy may be complete. (John 15:11)

The heart of God is that we would have Joy unspeakable. (I Peter 1:8)

What the Father wants to give us is not fleeting, it is not based on circumstances, it is actually rooted deep in who we are, anchored in the bedrock of Christ. The path to this deep seeded joy and happiness is thankfulness.

Our joy and happiness is a bi-product of our lives lived according to its design.

In Psalm 50:23 the Psalmist writes, “23 He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God.”

What he is saying, is thanksgiving keeps our hearts pliable to the Father. In that pliability, the way is paved that God may show us salvation. Salvation is victory over what ensnares us, what robs us of true joy and happiness.

Paul writes in Romans 1:21 “21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

A big part of the hearts of those who rebelled against their creator was they did not give thanks, as a result, their hearts did not remain pliable or sensitive and their thinking became futile. The height of our joy is dependent on the depth of our gratitude. Thankfulness is the key to a heart sensitive to the Father.

You deserve to be happy, you deserve to be happy in your walk with the Father, families, marriages, jobs, and in your inner man, to be happy with who you are! It is your design! You will notice that the more grateful you are with what you have, the more joy and happiness you will experience in life.
