As most of you in the Buena Vista campus know, I have mixed feelings about finishing up our series on James this past Sunday. I am always excited for what God has next for us, and I know our new short series on COMMUNITY is going to be great. However, I am sad as well because I have really loved digging in to the book of James with you all. It sure would’ve been a neat perspective to be the little brother of Jesus. James learned a great deal, observed Jesus throughout life, and experienced ministry in a way unlike any other. We have a lot to learn from James.
I hope you picked up on the most important thing in James—that we would be people of FAITH whose faith is shown in our ACTIONS. That we would believe what God says about himself and what God says about us is true, and that our belief would inform our actions. Truly believing will change everything about the way we live our lives.
My encouragement for us as a church family is that we would choose faith over and over again, despite our circumstances. That our choosing would allow the space for faith to grow and would change the way we live. Let’s be doers of the Word (James 1:22). Let’s choose wisdom from above (James 3:17). Church, let’s continue to choose the way of faith!
