In His Presence

October 21, 2015

Greetings Family,

In His presence all things are made new, and in His presence we find the fullness of joy!! Joy unspeakable-that is what I want; to walk in the rest of God’s sustaining joy, His peace!! My heart’s cry for months now is that our church would experience the presence of God in their lives. Often we live our Christian faith knowing of God, His precepts, and His commands.  We understand, at levels, the life to be found in simple obedience to His Word, fellowship with His body, and life one to another.  Yet there is something far more important, far more valuable in our walk with God, that oftentimes requires a posture of tarrying, a genuine pursuit, a quietness before the Lord.

It happens most when we pursue it. It happens as we step out of our comfort zones and ask God to meet us.  God tells us that those who pursue him with all their hearts find Him.

Church, my heart is for us to encounter Christ.  I have changed the way I preach, and we have changed the way we worship, in order to create space for this encounter. We can have all the knowledge in the world of someone, we can learn all there is to know about a person’s character, their likes and dislikes, we can read a biography of their life and at many levels we know them and appreciate them, but until we spend time with them and experience their presence, our knowledge is limited and is void of a genuine understanding or authenticity.  I want to go from knowing of God, knowing about God, to an intimacy with God. I want to hear His still soft voice and to experience his presence in my life. As we prepare our heart for Sunday, I pray that we would posture ourselves to encounter Christ.  Let’s prepare ourselves, even now, to pursue Him with all our hearts. When we ask God to show up, he shows up 100% of the time. Until Sunday!!!

In Him,

Pastor Charlie
